Quick answer

To check a Singapore company, open Bizfile, choose the Entity tab and search by name or unique entity number (UEN). Basic details such as live status and registered address are free, with no login. ACRA's Business Profile costs $5.50 and adds officers and owners; a Corporate Compliance and Financial Profile costs $50. Guide by shakalakaa.

How do I check a company's UEN in Singapore?

Use Bizfile (opens in a new tab), the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority's (ACRA) online portal. ACRA's guide to using Bizfile search functions (opens in a new tab) says the Entity search finds a business by name or UEN and shows basic information for free.

You don't need to log in to search. Paying is only needed when you want the officers, owners, filings or financial data behind the basic record.

What are the steps to search an entity on Bizfile?

These steps follow ACRA's own Bizfile guide for the Entity search:

  1. Open Bizfile and select the Entity tab.
  2. Enter the business name or the UEN, then click Search.
  3. If you searched by name, set Keyword match type to Name starting with or Name exact match to narrow the results, or Name containing to keep them broad.
  4. If you searched by UEN, set Keyword match type to UEN (including previous UEN), then click Apply filters.
  5. If you see more than 250 matching results, use the pre-search filters, such as entity type or status.
  6. Click More information on the right result to open the entity profile and check its live status and registered address.
  7. If you need officers, owners or partners, buy the Business Profile from the same result.

What can I check for free on Bizfile?

ACRA lists three things you can check free of charge through Bizfile's search functions:

  • Basic information about a business, such as its status and registered address
  • Whether an entity is a registered corporate service provider (CSP)
  • Live entities by business activity, using the Industry search (for example, SSIC code 56112 for cafés)

ACRA does not display registered addresses for entities that have ceased operations. It does this to protect former owners who may have used a home address.

How much do ACRA business information products cost?

ACRA sells six main information products through Bizfile. The prices below come from ACRA's information products page (opens in a new tab):

ACRA also lists four authorised information service providers (opens in a new tab) that offer extra business information services: CRIF BizInsights, DC Frontiers (Handshakes), Experian Credit Services Singapore and Singapore Commercial Credit Bureau.

Can Bizfile check clinics and other non-ACRA entities?

Yes. The Entity search also shows the live status and registered address of entities whose UEN is issued by another agency. Start typing in the search bar, then choose the agency under the Issuance agency filter.

For healthcare buyers, ACRA's Bizfile guide (opens in a new tab) lists Ministry of Health entity types with their own indicators. They include medical clinics (CM), dental clinics (CD), combined medical and dental clinics (MD), hospitals (HS) and clinical laboratories (CL). Charities, societies, trade unions and town councils can be searched the same way.

What else should I check before dealing with a Singapore business?

ACRA's page on checking the trustworthiness of a business (opens in a new tab) suggests going beyond the company record. It points to these sources:

  • The CASE consumer alert list
  • The MAS investor alert list, for unregulated financial activity
  • The Insolvency Search, for bankruptcy orders against individuals
  • The CaseTrust list of accredited businesses
  • News reports and online reviews
